Must-have apps for Paris living & visiting!

Travel has become so easy nowadays. With smart phones, Google & social media, the ability to discover & find new places is much more reachable for everyone. Apps are great, but it's helpful if you know which ones to use, so here's my top apps to download for living or travelling in Paris (and also around Europe).

Citymapper

There are a lot of map applications that work great in Paris, however this one is my favourite, and I've used it in London and New York as well. It gives you all the different transport options. It also has the metro, RER & bus maps saved on the app, so really helpful! And it updates when there are strikes or breakdowns. Definitely a handy app to have! The first three photos are Citymapper screenshots.

Google maps also works well, but I mainly use it for saving places (right photo). It's super helpful particularly at the beginning when you're first looking around, to save places that you want to go back to, and remember your favourite spots! You can also easily share them with others, so big bonus!

Beanhunter

This is my favourite app for travel, and saved me when I first arrived in Paris, because what better way to start your travel morning then with a great cup of coffee?

The app was created by Australian travellers, it is very easy to use, and I've found the ratings reliable in Europe too.

Vivino

France is known for it's wines, the selection at the average supermarket still blows me away! Which is awesome, but also super overwhelming & makes decisions very difficult. To be honest I usually choose my wine based on the how much I like the label, and the price!

But this app is awesome, a great way to find a good bottle, and I love that it helps you to pair the wine to the meal!

Too Good To Go

I was recommended this app from a friend who lives in Paris. I always wondered what happens to all the amazing pastries and other bakery treats at the end of the day, and here is one option! They are sold to us for cheeeap! Each one is different, but essentially you get a collection of goodies for a small price. A great way to try different things, and also a great idea to stop food wastage!

The Fork

For food spots I actually get most of my ideas of where to eat from Instagram. But an app I've been recommended and have just started using is The Fork.

I previously have been using Tripadvisor for finding restaurants. I've definitely found a few really good ones. However we've also had a number of times where we've made a special trip somewhere and the restaurant has been closed or has moved, and the app wasn't updated. So I have enjoyed using this new app.

Travel Apps

Finally if you are living in Paris or Europe then travel is so affordable and easy, and apps help make it easier! My three go to apps for travel are:

Skyscanner (1st pic) Cheap flights and really easy to use app!

Ouigo (2nd pic) Cheap trains, within France. I got 25euro return train tickets to Aix-en-Provence!

Go euro (3rd pic) Good options for train, bus and flights.
